A few months before the 2023 vintage finish

Fabrizio takes stock of the situation of the current wine season

We are a couple of months away from the 2023 vintage, a particularly difficult year that had an extremely difficult start due to a severe drought. For eight or nine months, we haven't had a single drop of rain.

This year we were planning a very important event, namely the planting of the new Barbera vineyard, an extension of the Canova vineyard, in the back of our company. This vineyard will be of fundamental importance for our future, but it was a very difficult task to plant the seedlings due to the drought. It took us three times as long as it took to complete all the initial work, such as the planting of the vines and poles, but the result was in the end more than satisfactory. In addition, the rains that came later gave us enormous help.

As you can see, the vines are growing excellently. The prospects are very positive. The new part that we planted last year is also growing well, with vegetation that is already very developed. We were very lucky because the mid-July hailstorm didn't cause us much damage, some small damage but nothing significant.

Currently, we are proceeding with the thinning of the Nebbiolo grapes, which are of excellent quality, as you can see in the video. If the weather conditions remain as they are these days, there are excellent prospects for a good year.
